We are a friendly group of astronomers who are keen to share our enthusiasm with people of all ages and abilities. We especially welcome people new to the subject.
We have a 3 part Beginners Guide to Stargazing Course to help answer to first few thousand questions - see the Events Page for details. If you miss a run of this course we will re-run it as and when demand requires.

There will be a small meeting fee in order to cover venue costs, this will depend on the number of people at the meeting and will be one to two pounds.
Any surplus will be kept in a separate fund and used to subsidise a Christmas Members Dinner.
There are three types of membership :-
All membership fees will be paid on a yearly basis.
Membership will run from 6th April to 5th April.
Any members joining part way through the year will be charged in a monthly pro rata basis, starting with the month in which they join.

As a member of the Thanet Astronomy Group we must all behave in a way that does not bring our group (or any other group) into disrepute.
Our behaviour should at all times be Polite, Curious and Helpful to everyone involved.
We must seek to learn and share our knowledge with others.
The following is a list of mandatory policies that must be adhered to by all members of Thanet Astronomy Group. Failure to follow these policies will result in the member being brought before the committee to explain their breach of policy.
Failure to provide a sufficiently robust reason for the breach of policy may result in the member being expelled from the group in accordance with section 3.4 of the constitution.
