Thanet Astronomy Group

Members

We are a friendly group of astronomers who are keen to share our enthusiasm with people of all ages and abilities. We especially welcome people new to the subject.

We have a 3 part Beginners Guide to Stargazing Course to help answer to first few thousand questions - see the Events Page for details. If you miss a run of this course we will re-run it as and when demand requires.

If you would like to come and see what we are all about please feel free to visit - we hold a Free public meeting every Saturday 1:00pm - 4:00pm at the West Bay Cafe, Sea Road, Westgate-on-Sea, Kent. CT8 8QZ. For details see the Meetings Page for details.

Meeting Times and Dates

The club meeting will be held on the 1st Wednesday of the month. For exact Times and Dates of members only meetings see the Diary page.

Meeting Location

The members only club meeting will be held at the West Bay Cafe, Sea Road, Westgate on Sea, Kent. CT8 8QZ. See the Location Map for details of our location.

Meeting Fee

There will be a small meeting fee in order to cover venue costs, this will depend on the number of people at the meeting and will be one to two pounds.

Any surplus will be kept in a separate fund and used to subsidise a Christmas Members Dinner.

Membership Types and Prices

There are three types of membership :-

1.) Adult......(18+)
2.) Junior.....(5-17)
3.) Honorary Membership

All membership fees will be paid on a yearly basis.

Membership will run from 6th April to 5th April.

Any members joining part way through the year will be charged in a monthly pro rata basis, starting with the month in which they join.

Fees will be :-

1.) Adult......£ 24
2.) Junior.....£ 12
3.) Honorary...(No Fee)

There will be no refunds of membership fees.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Thanet Astronomy Group we must all behave in a way that does not bring our group (or any other group) into disrepute.

Our behaviour should at all times be Polite, Curious and Helpful to everyone involved.

We must seek to learn and share our knowledge with others.

Conditions of Membership

The following is a list of mandatory policies that must be adhered to by all members of Thanet Astronomy Group. Failure to follow these policies will result in the member being brought before the committee to explain their breach of policy.

Failure to provide a sufficiently robust reason for the breach of policy may result in the member being expelled from the group in accordance with section 3.4 of the constitution.

Membership Form
